Hitesh Patwari Engineering systems with a human point of view

Lead engineer · Fremont, California

I build software that makes complex work easier to move through.

I'm a lead engineer with 15+ years across enterprise SaaS, cybersecurity, and developer platforms. I build production AI workflows, resilient product systems, and tools that make engineering teams more effective.

Impact that shows up in the work.

How I work

I care about the connection between a useful product and the system that makes it reliable.

I am drawn to work where product context, user experience, and implementation details have to agree. That can mean an enterprise workflow, a mobile interface, an LLM-powered document flow, or a focused internal tool.

I work best where reliability and speed need to coexist: reducing data-integrity risk, making AI-assisted delivery measurable, and leaving the next team with a system they can reason about.

Capabilities

A broad engineering lens, grounded in the work.

01

Product engineering

Building enterprise workflows that remain clear to use, testable to change, and dependable in production.

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Ruby on Rails
  • REST APIs
02

AI delivery systems

Making LLM and agent-assisted workflows measurable, bounded, and safe enough for real engineering teams.

  • GPT-5
  • Azure OpenAI
  • AWS Bedrock
  • Claude Code
03

Reliability and data integrity

Finding failure modes in concurrent systems, then creating the controls, tests, and observability to prevent them.

  • Concurrency
  • Deterministic testing
  • New Relic
  • StatsD
04

Technical leadership

Turning ambiguous implementation work into sound plans, effective reviews, and maintainable systems.

  • Design reviews
  • Mentoring
  • CI/CD
  • Developer productivity

Selected work

I turn complex needs into dependable product and engineering systems.

Three proof stories: human-centered product judgment, measurable engineering rigor, and reliable AI delivery.

Flagship personal product · Evoke Ink

Helping a curious reader show what she understood.

I built Evoke Ink for my family after seeing how often my child finished books without an easy way to explore what she had understood. It is a local-first web and Android app that turns a reading session into thoughtful comprehension prompts and printable writing activities, while keeping AI generation inside a controlled boundary.

  1. ContextA curious child who reads a lot needs better questions—not another quiz—to make comprehension visible.
  2. DecisionA bounded AI flow turns a parent's reading-session context into focused prompts without making the experience another app to manage.
  3. ResultA printable, low-friction activity helps a parent see how their child is making sense of what they read.

Engineering rigor

Modernizing a complex production interface without losing confidence in change.

10
independently testable React components
47%
smaller main component
62% → 81%
test coverage after the redesign

The work reduced component complexity by 53% while giving the team smaller, safer boundaries to evolve.

AI reliability

Making AI-assisted engineering delivery measurable, repeatable, and bounded.

7
hook-enforced delivery stages
77 + 19
unit tests and evaluations
18
validation checks in a provider comparison harness

The aim is not a faster demo—it is a workflow engineers can evaluate, reason about, and trust.

Lead Engineer, Supply Chain Collaboration

Coupa Software

2022-Present

I build reliable enterprise workflows across product engineering, production LLM systems, AI-assisted delivery, data integrity, and UI modernization.

  • Engineered production LLM workflows for supplier emails and PDFs, including configurable extraction, multi-PO handling, and outcome-based intake.
  • Re-architected a complex order-confirmation UI into 10 independently testable React components, reducing main-component size 47%, cyclomatic complexity 53%, and raising coverage from 62% to 81%.
  • Built a repeatable AI delivery workflow with seven hook-enforced stages, 77 unit tests, 19 evaluations, and provider-comparison validation.
